How can Group Health partner with you to build solutions to concerns about health care and business? But unlike many business leaders, I also have the opportunity, the responsibility, of leading an enterprise that is deeply involved in building viable, sustainable solutions to the pressing demands of health care and business. There are no easy answers. But I am encouraged. And I suspect you will be too, as you read through these pages, listen to these videos, and learn how Group health is responding. We're acting on bold ideas and taking smart risks to drive costs lower while improving the quality of care. The current economic environment has us pushing even harder to find better ways to provide quality care more affordably. We don't have it all figured out, but we are pursuing some of the most promising options, aggressively, successfully. Daring to do it differently is fundamental to us. Back in 1947 a group of frustrated consumers and visionary physicians created Group Health. Now, 60-plus years later, more people are recognizing our system's good sense and seeking to learn and evolve with us. We believe our strategies can successfully be replicated by others across the country, if they're willing. And I hope you're willing as well. To consider the value of what Group Health is doing, to look at the issues differently, to speak up and share your thoughts, as together we take on one of the most important challenges of our time.
