2010 Group Health Board of Trustees CandidatesGroup Health's Standing Nominating Committee has nominated the following five candidates for four open positions on the Cooperative's Board of Trustees. The election will be conducted in the fall by mail ballot and in person at the Cooperative's annual membership meeting on Oct. 23. Learn more about the Board of Trustees candidates. (PDF) Susan Byington (Seattle) is the former vice president of Human Resources for Providence Health and Services in Seattle. Currently she serves as vice chair of the Group Health Foundation Board of Directors and also chairs the Foundation Board Development Committee. Porsche Everson (incumbent, Seattle) is the owner and president of Relevant Strategies, a management consulting firm and a member of the BECU Board of Directors. Elizabeth (Bette) Hyde, PhD (Bremerton) is the director of the State of Washington Department of Early Learning and is a licensed psychologist. She previously served as superintendent of schools, Bremerton School District. Jennifer Joly, JD (incumbent, Tacoma) serves as a commissioner on the Washington State Public Disclosure Commission. She previously served as general counsel and legislative director to Gov. Gary Locke. Dorothy (Dodie) Ruzicki, PhD, RN (incumbent, Mead, WA) is the director of the Department of Educational Services at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center & Children's Hospital and Providence Holy Family Hospital in Spokane. The top three elected Board candidates will serve three-year terms, from Jan. 1, 2011 to Dec. 31, 2013. The fourth candidate elected will serve a two-year vacated term resulting from Bobbie Berkowitz's resignation from the Board.The Board elected Dorothy Ruzicki, PhD, RN, as an interim trustee to fill Berkowitz's position July 1 to Dec. 31, 2010 until the Membership elects the successor to serve in the vacated term. How Does a Candidate Get Nominated?Prior to nomination by the Standing Nominating Committee, the Board candidates complete an application, are interviewed by the all-consumer committee, undergo an extensive background screening process, and participate in a group activity that allows committee members to observe the applicants' interaction skills.
