Pharmacy Residency Application Information

Thank you for your interest in our program. Group Health participates in the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) Resident Matching Program. Further information and registration for the match can be found on the ASHP Resident Matching Program website.

Key Dates

The pharmacy residency is a one-year appointment.

  • Application deadline to Group Health: Jan. 11, 2012
  • ASHP Match registration deadline: Jan. 11, 2012
  • Work start date: July 1, 2012

Stipend and Benefits

  • Estimated stipend: $52,800
  • Full medical and dental coverage (optional; cost varies depending on health plan chosen by employee)
  • Seven days of vacation per year
  • Educational leave
  • Travel allowance for select professional conferences

Requirements for Acceptance

  • PharmD degree from an accredited college of pharmacy
  • Eligibility for licensure in Washington state

Application Materials

The online application window will be between Nov. 1, 2011 and Jan. 11, 2012. To apply online, visit our job search page and search by job numbers "113398" and "113397" or keywords "pharmacy resident."

The following must be completed and submitted by Jan. 11, 2012:

  • Copy of all pharmacy school transcripts
  • Concise statement indicating your career goals, major areas of interest, and reasons why you are a good candidate for this program
  • Copy of your curriculum vitae (CV)
  • Completed recommendation form
  • Letters of recommendation from three preceptors

The application process also includes a required on-site interview.

Jim Carlson, PharmD

Responsibilities include oversight of the Pharmacy Health Plan functions including the formulary development and implementation process, pharmacy benefit design, pharmacy benefit manager (PBM), commercial and Medicare Part D pharmacy programs, medication safety, and compliance. Also serves as the residency program director for the PGY1 Managed Care Pharmacy Program.

Shirley Reitz, PharmD

Responsibilities include statewide oversight and coordination of all medication use management issues coordinated by pharmacy administration, planning and implementation of clinical pharmacy activities throughout the delivery system, as well as managing the pharmacy clinical specialists.
