Group Health Sponsors Women's Team
Group Health is sponsoring a women's competitive cycling team for the 2005 season. With 50 members, Team Group Health is one of the largest women's cycling teams in the Pacific Northwest.
The team was formed in 2002 as Sound Velo, with a roster of 30 members, including 15 to 20 racers. Members have won medals at the Masters Mountain Bike World Championships and at the World Duathlon Championships.

New members may join in the fall during the open team roster. The team offers workshops with successful local and national racers on training, racing, and team tactics.
Current members range in age from early 20s to mid 40s. The roster includes about 20 women classified as road racers. Members also compete in track races, mountain biking, and in cyclocross.
Team members are involved in community service, participating in charity rides, helping at the Friday races at the Group Health Velodrome, and volunteering with non-profit organizations such as Bike Works and Northwest Women's Cycling.
Although Group Health sponsors the team, the women don't have to be Group Health members. For more information about Team Group Health, go to
