2011 Gift of Health Gala Raises $700,000 for Childhood Immunizations

Nearly 600 guests filled the Grand Ballroom in The Westin Seattle on Saturday, Oct. 1, at the 10th Annual Gift of Health Gala — Group Health Foundation's signature fundraising event.

Group Health President and CEO Scott Armstrong led the evening's program and shared how Group Health is promoting solutions to increase access to high-quality, affordable care. He also presented the 2011 Innovators in Health Care Award to Karen Davis, president of The Commonwealth Fund. Davis was recognized as a leader in health and social policy and for her work in making high-quality health care more affordable and accessible.

The gala's generous donors provided $700,000 to support programs to improve immunization rates across Washington state. The Group Health Childhood Immunization Initiative provides free immunizations to kids in schools across the state and develops educational tools and resources for parents and providers. To date, more than 27,000 children have been immunized through the program.

This year's gala was co-chaired by Drs. Barbara Detering and David Kauff, and Rick Omata and Carol Moody. The Gift of Health Gala is grateful for the generous support of its sponsors.
