Tribute and Memorial GiftsJon Fine and Paula Selis support pediatrics careMany people today know Jon Fine as the president and CEO of United Way of King County. Fine and his wife, consumer-protection attorney Paula Selis, have a rich history of serving the community, and especially Group Health. Fine and Selis are long-time members who have been generous donors to the Foundation since 1987. Currently, they belong to the Foundation's Leadership Circle, an annual giving club. Fine previously chaired the Foundation's board and was a trustee of Group Health. He was also a leader in the Foundation's endowment campaign in the mid-90s. Both of their children were born at Group Health, and they began giving to the Foundation in honor of the excellent medical care they received over the years. Perhaps most significant is this family's ongoing commitment to the Joel Katz Endowed Fund for Pediatric Oncology. The fund is named in honor of their nephew, Joel, who died at age two following a courageous battle with cancer. The fund supports care for other children faced with cancer. In addition to regular annual gifts, Fine and Selis have included the Foundation in their estate plans. They made the Foundation the beneficiary of a life insurance policy and a beneficiary in their wills. Gifts like those from Fine and Selis make good things happen at Group Health. They create better care experiences for other members and enable Group Health to support important health care activities in the wider community. We thank them for their commitment and generosity.
