$360,000 Invested in Innovation

Every day, front-line staff see opportunities to improve the way we care for our patients. The Partnership for Innovation provides the tools, resources, and expertise to help our staff turn their ideas into pilot projects.

Recently, five new Partnership for Innovation projects were funded with $361,571, bringing the total donor investment in the program to nearly $2 million since 2008.

"The Partnership for Innovation is such a powerful collaboration because it combines the unique strengths of Group Health, our care teams, our research institute, and our Foundation's 6,000 donors," said Mike Soman, MD, chief medical executive.

Proposals for innovation grants are submitted by staff throughout the Group Health delivery system. Funding is awarded based on a proposed project's potential to improve care, reduce costs, and improve patient satisfaction. Funded pilot projects are evaluated by teams from the Group Health Research Institute (GHRI).

"Each project provides opportunities to learn in real-world clinical settings," said Eric B. Larson, MD, MPH, vice president for research and executive director of GHRI. "Findings from the program inform how we care for our patients at Group Health and beyond."
