Byron Doepker, MD
Byron is a Washington native who grew up in Spokane. He did his undergraduate studies at the University of Washington, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with bachelor degrees in chemistry, biochemistry, and neurobiology; and where he was a Mary Gates Research Scholar for his research on synaptic vesicles. He graduated from the University of Pittsburgh SOM, where he was involved in writing a textbook for medical trainees on motivational interviewing and co-founded the Simulation Interest Group and the Palliative Care Interest Group. He has maintained a commitment to politics and was very active in the 2012 presidential election, supporting local initiatives in Washington state while still enrolled in the University of Pittsburgh. He speaks basic French and enjoys writing, cooking, working in pencil and charcoal, and playing in the beautiful outdoors of the Northwest.
