Husband's Life

Paige NewellFor the first two years after moving to Spokane, my husband was very ill. He had the strangest combination of symptoms and, except for treatment for his degenerative joint disease, was not in the habit of going to the doctor.

Dr. Edward Reisman hung right in there with him and supported him. He made the most important, correct decisions for my husband. As it turned out, my husband had ulcerative colitis, prostrate cancer, and heart disease. After emergency open heart surgery, treatment for the colitis, and radiation, my husband was still alive at 57. I believe in my heart that without Dr. Reisman's persistence and the wonderful specialists and surgeons, my husband would not be alive today.

We had to go to different medical coverage for several years but are now back with Group Health and Dr. Reisman. Again, the doctor connected my husband's symptoms with a diagnosis. He has sleep apnea. I would lay awake for hours at night, waking my husband when he would stop breathing. We (my husband and I) think this may have been happening for at least a couple of years. I know he was slowly dying. Dr. Reisman didn't give up on my husband and kept pursuing the cause.

Currently, Dr. Reisman and my husband are working together managing my husband's medications. Even though my husband's cancer has come back and he is on chemotherapy, he is restoring his pickup and has a very good quality of life.
