During the time Dr. Affolter was my doctor, he helped me through two serious illnesses. Each time he monitored me closely, including calling me at home to see how I was progressing. In August 2006, I fell off the roof of my house. I ended up at Harborview Medical Center where three surgical teams put me back together from multiple pelvic fractures, a smashed wrist, a broken humerus, and a very traumatized body. Once I entered rehab, Group Health took over my care for the next year. Under the coordination of Dr. Affolter, I experienced amazing support and medical care from a psychiatrist, a psychometrist, a mental health therapist, and a physical therapist. The recovery took one year, during which I only had to call any one of my medical team and help was available within 24 hours if not the same day. I feel so grateful to be the recipient of such a coordinated program of medical care. All of my caregivers were in contact with me through e-mail and responded within the day to any message I sent. The convenience of the Group Health Web site allowed me to obtain my medications regularly through the mail. The home health nurse, home physical therapist, and the aide sent to help me with my showers, along with the medical equipment provided, allowed me to be at home while I recovered. It was not just the medical care I was so fortunate to receive, but the emotional and mental health support that I so needed. Today, I am fully recovered and stronger mentally than I have ever been. My new doctor, Dr. Waarvick, has continued my care with Group Health in a similar manner. Dr. Parker, my psychiatrist, continues to provide outstanding services. I am blessed. POSTED: 8/1/2008

I have been a Group Health member for about 19 years. During most of that time my doctor was Dr. Affolter. He was amazing in his knowledge and skill and especially his relationship with his patients.
