Voting Membership and Elections
In 1945, our founding members were dedicated to creating a responsive, viable health care delivery system for their community. Voting members have had a direct voice since the beginning. That includes you!
Become a Voting Member
Voting members elect our Board of Trustees, the governing body that hires the chief executive officer and makes major policy decisions. Members also elect the chair of the Standing Nominating Committee, which nominates Board candidates, and vote on changes to our bylaws and on advisory resolutions.
The registration deadline to vote in the 2016 Board of Trustees elections was Oct. 4, 2016. Members age 18 and older are eligible to vote. Once you register, you can vote every year as long as you maintain Group Health medical coverage with no break in service. Register now (you must be logged in).
For more information, or to confirm your voting eligibility, call the Board of Trustees Office at 206-448-5790 or 1-800-252-3305, ext. 11.
All voting members are sent an election notice and ballot for candidates in the fall. You can vote by mail or at the annual membership meeting in December.
Serve on the Board of Trustees
Group Health Cooperative's 11-member consumer Board of Trustees hires the organization's chief executive officer and sets the strategy, policy, and direction for our organization. Every year, several positions come open for election. The application process begins early in the year, with candidates nominated for election in August. If you are interested in serving on the Board of Trustees, you must submit your application by May 23.
Annual Membership Meeting
All members can attend our annual membership meeting, which takes place in December. Voting for Board candidates, advisory resolutions, and bylaw amendments takes place at the annual meeting, as well as by mail. We will celebrate Group Health's long history of member engagement and success. Please join us at the annual membership meeting on Dec. 3 at the Washington State Convention Center.
