For appointments with your personal physician, just call your doctor's office. Please call if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. You can also schedule appointments with Group Health doctors online. See below.
Use our Provider Directory to find your doctor's phone number. Having your member ID number handy when you call makes the process go a little faster, but if you don't have it we can look it up for you. For immediate health concerns, same-day appointments with your personal physician are normally available.
If you haven't chosen a personal physician, use the Provider Directory to find one or call Customer Service for help.
Appointments With Specialists
You can make appointments directly (without a referral) with most Group Health specialists at Group Health Medical Centers locations. Use the Provider Directory to find specialists who meet your needs and who are available for self-referral. Simply call the specialist or schedule online (if you are registered on MyGroupHealth for Members).
In most case, you need a referral to see contracted specialists.
Online Scheduling With Group Health Doctors
You can log in to MyGroupHealth's personal online services to schedule most non-urgent appointments with Group Health doctors. Schedule appointments with primary care doctors, eye care doctors, physical therapists, most specialists, and the Travel Advisory Service. You can also cancel most appointments online, too. For access to online scheduling, register with MyGroupHealth.
Online scheduling is not available for contracted doctors who do not practice at Group Health medical centers.
Payment for Services at Your Appointment
If your health plan requires a copayment for your appointment, you will generally be asked for your copayment at the beginning of a visit.
You may pay with a personal check or a bank card. Group Health accepts Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and American Express. We don't accept cash payments at Group Health clinics and pharmacies.
For urgent care after business hours, on weekends, or on holidays, call the Consulting Nurse Service. The nurse will direct you to the most appropriate care, which may be one of our urgent care centers.
Appointments When You're Traveling
Non-urgent appointments. Group Health members traveling outside our service areas can receive routine care from Kaiser Permanente where available. Visit the Kaiser Permanente website and select the area where you will be visiting. Students who attend school away from home may also receive care at Kaiser Permanente.
Note: Some services at Kaiser Permanente require pre-authorization. Contact Customer Service for information about your coverage at Kaiser.
Emergencies and urgent care. Group Health covers medical emergencies worldwide. If you have a medical emergency while traveling, call 911 or the local emergency assistance number immediately. Then within 24 hours or as soon as reasonably possible, call our Emergency Notification Line so we can follow up on your care.
If you need urgent care while traveling, call your personal physician during office hours for advice. After hours, call the Consulting Nurse Service.
