Meningitis: Medicines for Seizures

Topic Overview

Medicines can be used to treat seizures caused by meningitis . They include:

Phenytoin (Dilantin).
Phenobarbital (Luminal).
Benzodiazepines. These include clonazepam (Klonopin).

These medicines are used short-term. You stop using them when the seizures are no longer a problem.
